Mergers: EU Commission clears acquisition of EcoOnline by Goldman Sachs and Summa Equity

The European Commission has approved, under the EU Merger Regulation, the acquisition of EcoOnline AS of Norway by The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. of the U.S. and Summa Equity AB of Sweden.

EcoOnline provides health and safety software and related services. Goldman Sachs is a global investment banking, securities and investment management firm. Summa Equity is a private equity fund that focuses on investment in the mid-cap segment in Northern Europe.

The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would raise no competition concerns, because of the absence of significant horizontal overlaps or vertical links between the activities of the companies.

The transaction was examined under the simplified merger review procedure.
