COLLEGE MEETING: A new administrative Director ad interim for the European Public Prosecutor’s Office

Today, the European Commission has decided the transfer of Mr Richard Sonnenschein to Directorate-General for Justice and Consumers (JUST) to take on the function of Administrative Director ad interim for the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO).

Mr Sonnenschein, a German and Croatian national, is currently Principal Security Adviser in the European Commission in the Directorate-General for Human Resources and Security (HR).
A highly experienced professional in the area of human resources, security and law, Mr Sonnenschein will bring his deep knowledge of the current internal administrative and budgetary workings of the Commission as well as his good understanding of the challenges of EPPO and its interactions with other services. From 2007 until 2016, Mr Sonnenschein was Head of the Protection and Crisis Management Unit of DG HR. F
rom 2003 until 2007, he worked in the Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology (CNECT) as Project Manager and assistant to the Director Resources. From 2001 until 2003, he was Deputy Head of Unit of the State-Ministry of Baden-Württemberg and Head of the Major Office of Stuttgart. He joined the European Commission as policy officer for DG INFSO in 1996.
Before, he worked in the legal field in Germany, notably as judge and legal officer, after having graduated in law in 1987 from the University of Freiburg, Germany.
